Annual Peace Day Celebrations

Each July, the City of Rockville becomes the site of an annual Peace Day Celebration that honors the birthday of Mattie J.T. Stepanek and brings citizens of all ages and abilities together to seek peace, make peace, and bring peace. Approximately 600 participants browse stations that highlight elements of Mattie’s messages of hope and peace, and they are invited to dialogue with local elected leaders who serve them a piece of Peace cake. Recreational activities, musical entertainment, raffles, food and drink add to the festivities.

Save the date! 2020 Peace Day in Rockville, Maryland will be Saturday, July 11, in Mattie’s Park! More details coming soon!

Beginning this year, Americus/Sumter County, Georgia will also host a Peace Day celebration.
